What we do
Focus Care investigates patient needs throughout the Netherlands to determine demand for generic medicine. By bringing medicines that align with these needs to the market, we aim to keep Dutch healthcare accessible and affordable for everyone.
Vision and mission
Our close partnerships with international manufacturers of generic medicines and medical devices allow us to efficiently deliver their products to patients throughout the Netherlands. We ensure that our partners’ high-quality products comply with all legal frameworks, including those for transport and storage.
We are committed to keeping Dutch healthcare affordable: generic drugs are less expensive than brand-name medicines.
Our products
Generic medicines are exact copies of their brand-name counterparts — ‘reference medicines’. Manufacturers can produce and market a generic medicine when the patent of the brand-name medicine has expired. However, generics must demonstrate safety and efficacy and strictly adhere to the rigorous standards set by the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (CBG-MEB).
In addition to a wide range of generic medicines, Focus Care is the distributor of the AeroChamber Plus® Flow-Vu® anti-static valved holding chamber in the Netherlands. We are also developing a non-pharmacological treatment for restless legs syndrome (RLS) under the trademark Relegs®.
Quality and compliance
Once we have identified demand for a generic medicine among patients in the Netherlands and have confirmed the manufacturer’s ability to deliver uniform high-quality as a reliable partner, we will compile a dossier on the medicine and apply for marketing authorisation. The application process is complex and can take several years to conclude. We must wait until the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (CBG-MEB) grants marketing authorisation before we are allowed to market the medicine.
Following marketing authorisation:
- We collaborate with accredited partners for transport and storage
- Regular audits and inspections ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards
- As soon as a batch arrives at the storage facility, it undergoes inspection and quality sampling
- Each individual product is traceable throughout the supply chain
